🐷🌴CT Ranch: Home of the “Pig Oasis!”

It seems our piggy pals have been hogging all the attention lately, and for a good reason.

We've been busy transforming a sizeable 2 and 1/2 acre portion of our farm into a veritable "pig oasis" all for our 6 pigs! Imagine lush pastures, partial woodland, and – here's the cherry on top – a generous scattering of oak trees.

Now, you might be thinking, "Oak trees? What's so special about that?" Well, let us enlighten you.

Our pigs have a bit of a gourmet palate, and acorns happen to be their favorite snack. It's like truffles to a foodie or candy to a child. Our oak trees are nature's vending machine, generously dropping these nutritious gems for our pigs to munch on.

Acorns pack quite a nutritional punch, providing our pigs with protein, vitamins, minerals, and fiber.

That's not just good news for our pigs but also for us. You see, when pigs feast on acorns, they put on weight, particularly in the form of delectable fat that brings a rich, nutty flavor to the meat. In addition to all that natural foraging we also provide our pigs plenty of our raw milk products. This power house is a nutritionally packed food source that not only benefits their health, but also the flavor of the meat they produce

It's a win-win situation!

But let's not hog all the benefits. This new pig oasis isn't just a paradise for our pigs; it's also great for Mother Earth. By allowing our pigs to root, dig, and forage, we're encouraging natural behaviors that contribute to the health of our soil and the environment.

We're thrilled about this big change on our farm and can't wait for you to taste the difference in our pastured woodland pork

So next time you're at CT Ranch, don't forget to say hello to our pigs – they'll be the ones lounging under the oak trees, happily crunching away on acorns.

Thank you for being part of our journey towards sustainable, ethical, and nutritious farming. And remember, our pastured pork is not just a meal; it's a story – one where the pigs, the people, and the planet all live happily ever after.

Egg Shortage and Its Impact on Small Farms

While many have heard about the outbreak of bird flu as the culprit behind the shortage, we, here at CT Ranch, have been hesitant to join the conversation. We didn’t want to contribute to the growing wave of fear surrounding this issue,
