Ingredients:
2 slices of fresh sourdough bread
2 slices of cheddar cheese (or your favorite melty cheese)
1 tbsp butter (or more for spreading)
Optional: A sprinkle of garlic powder or herbs for extra flavor.
Directions:
- Prep the bread:
- Spread a thin layer of butter on one side of each slice of sourdough bread.
- If you’d like more flavor, sprinkle garlic powder or herbs on the buttered sides.
- Assemble the sandwich:
- Place a slice of cheese on the unbuttered side of one slice of bread.
- Top it with the second slice of bread (buttered side facing out).
- Cook:
- Heat a skillet over medium heat.
- Place the sandwich in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes, or until the bread turns golden and the cheese begins to melt.
- Flip and finish:
- Flip the sandwich and cook the other side until it’s crispy and the cheese is fully melted.
- Press down lightly with a spatula for an extra crisp crust.
- Serve:
- Slice the sandwich in half and enjoy it warm!
