Journey to Natural Health: Embrace Your Own Path

I wanted to take a moment to share something that's really close to my heart. When it comes to our health journey, we’re all walking different paths, each at our own pace. When I think back to 15 or 20 years ago, I can see how far I've come—and it reminds me to stay humble and patient. I try to remember where I was back then and what I knew (or didn’t know!), because that’s how I can connect with those of you who are newer on your journey.
We all start somewhere. For me, it started with the Standard American Diet (SAD)—and trust me, it was sad! At first, I thought eating "healthy" meant just salads and going vegetarian. Oh, how wrong I was! It turns out my body doesn’t do too well with raw leafy greens, and I’ve never felt so sick and drained in my life as I did on a plant-based diet. But the silver lining? I had switched to a whole foods approach with less processed food, and that was a huge step forward.
As I learned more about healing myself naturally, I came to realize that I know my body better than anyone else. I became my own best advocate and healer. I learned that doctors are there to work FOR me. And I started interviewing them for hire as a tool and resource in my healing, rather than feeling like a victim of “white coat syndrome” where I relied on a diagnosis from a doctor to tell me what was wrong with me. With time, I learned to trust my instincts and identify what my body needed.
Of course, this process didn’t happen overnight. It took years of learning, experimenting, and yes, failing. When I was first starting out, I would have never considered eating raw milk or organ meats (even though they were exactly what my body needed at that time). It took time, patience, and MUCH trial and error to get to where I am now.
So, for those of you who are just starting your journey, please know—there’s no need to compare your beginning to someone else’s middle. You can’t rush this process. Right now, you might be the one reading ingredient labels in the store while someone else is experimenting with raw liver or snacking on cultured butter. That’s okay! We all have to start where we are. Don’t feel pressured to jump ahead. It can be overwhelming to try to go from zero to 100, and honestly, you don’t need to.
What’s important is that you’re learning, growing, and even failing (yes, failing can be our best teacher!). Like when I went vegetarian. Sure, it wasn’t the best choice for me health-wise, but I learned so much about my body through that experience—things I wouldn’t have known otherwise. Now, I know that my body thrives on raw dairy, grass-fed beef, and organ meats. I also learned that fermented carbs like sourdough and fermented veggies are key for maintaining weight and good digestion.
Remember, every body is different, and every health journey is unique. The most important thing is that you’re on the path, and you’re taking steps towards what works best for you. Here at CT Ranch, we are here to provide you with the nutrient-dense foods you need to support your journey, wherever it may take you.
I try to stay humble and always remember where I started. I may be a resource, but I’m no expert when it comes to anyone else’s body but my own. We're all just learning together. So, take your time and trust that every step, no matter how small, is progress.
With gratitude,
Sara
